FAQ

Social card preview FAQ

What are Open Graph tags?

Open Graph (og:) tags tell Facebook, LinkedIn, Slack, WhatsApp, and most chat apps what title, description, and image to show when your link is shared. Without them, platforms guess, and the preview often looks broken or empty.

What size should the og:image be?

1200 by 630 pixels (a 1.91:1 ratio) is the safe standard for a large, crisp card across platforms. Keep it under about 5MB and make sure it is publicly accessible, not behind a login.

Do I need separate Twitter tags?

Not strictly. X falls back to your Open Graph tags if twitter: tags are missing. Adding twitter:card set to summary_large_image guarantees the big-image layout, and you can override the title, description, or image just for X.

I updated my tags but the old preview still shows. Why?

Platforms cache link previews. After changing your tags, re-scrape the URL in the platform's debugger (Facebook Sharing Debugger, LinkedIn Post Inspector) to force a refresh. This tool always reads the live current tags.
