FAQ

Internal link analyzer FAQ

Why do internal links matter for SEO?

Internal links pass authority between your own pages and show search engines how your site is structured and which pages are most important. Pages with few internal links pointing to them are often the hardest to rank, even when the content is strong.

How many internal links should a page have?

There is no fixed number, but most important pages should link out to a handful of relevant related pages and be linked to from others. A page with only one or two internal links is usually under-connected.

Are nofollow internal links bad?

Usually unnecessary. Nofollow on your own internal links stops authority flowing between your pages. It made sense years ago for PageRank sculpting, but today it is rarely worth it. This tool flags how many you have.

What are empty anchors?

Links with no text, often image or icon links. They still work, but descriptive anchor text helps search engines understand the destination and improves accessibility for screen-reader users.
