SmashSERP, SEO & AI Scanner · Last updated July 23, 2026
This policy explains what the SmashSERP SEO & AI Scanner Chrome extension (the “extension”) accesses and what we do with it. It applies only to the extension. Plain English, no surprises.
What the extension accesses
The extension only reads a page when you click the SmashSERP icon on that page. When you do, it reads the current page's HTML (its markup, headings, meta tags, and structured data) so it can compute an on-page SEO and AI-search readiness score.
It does not run in the background, does not read pages you don't explicitly scan, and does not track your browsing history.
What we do with it
When you run a scan, the page's HTML is sent to our scoring service at smashserp.online, which analyzes it and returns your report. We use that data solely to generate your on-screen report.
The extension may also request the current site's public /robots.txt and /llms.txt files to report crawlability and AI-crawler readiness. These are public files and no personal data is involved.
What we don't do
- We do not store the page content after your report is generated.
- We do not sell your data or share it with third parties.
- We do not use it for advertising, profiling, or creditworthiness.
- We do not require an account, name, or email to scan a page.
Permissions, and why
- Reading the page you scan (host access & scripting): to read the HTML of whatever page you open the extension on, across sites. It only runs when you open the popup, never in the background.
- Access to smashserp.online: to send the page markup to our scoring service and receive your report.
If you sign up
If you choose to continue into the SmashSERP app from the extension, the URL of the page you scanned may be passed along so we can set it up as your first site. That is covered by SmashSERP's main terms and privacy practices.
